  In 1952, British built two colleges in Malaya. One was built in Kota Bharu, Kelantan and it was called Kota Bharu Teacher’s Training College. One more was built in Penang and it was called Penang Teacher’s Training College. When Kota Bharu Teacher’s Training College was closed, the student teachers moved to Penang. Then, the Penang Teacher’s Training College (PTTC) became Malayan Teacher’s Training College (MTTC), later known as Maktab Perguruan Persekutuan Pulau Pinang (MPPP).
